FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions from adults and children)
How did we get started?
I Dream of Fish was started when Miles Lin was 9 years old. It was birthed out of his passion for fishing and his desire to help those less fortunate around the world.
How do we choose where to install an aquaponic system?
Many factors are used to determine if a location is a good fit for us. Sustainable infrastructure and the right team of people to work with are two of our major considerations.
What is aquaponics?
Aquaponics is a closed water system of gardening where there are fish on the bottom and plants up on top. The dirty fish water is pumped up to the top to be used as nutrient-filled water for the garden and is then filtered through the plants to be recycled back down to the fish as clean water. It's an efficient way to grow vegetables and fish.
Where are Miles' favorite places to fish?
Miles caught his first salmon in Seattle, Washington. He caught over 100 fish in one weekend at his Aunt's backyard lake in Chicago. He also caught over 120 small fish at Cedar Lake (in Big Bear) during a school camping trip. He fishes every summer at Flathead Lake, in Montana. He basically likes to fish wherever there are fish!
How do I get involved?
We are always looking for other people who have a desire to end world hunger, especially through fish. We need students to bring awareness to their schools. We need adults to help with fundraisers, fishing tournaments, anything to help raise awareness. Contact us if you're interested in getting involved.
